Noodles safety questioned

In recent times, the safety of some brands of noodles were called into questions, with prompt and even some erratic decisions from some quarters.

In late April, the Tapei Health Department conducted a random inspection of various brands of the noodles available in the city and detected traces of carcinogenic substance in at least one variants of a brand. The detection resulted in a recall of the batches of the noodle variants involved in Taiwan and Malaysia which is a standard procedure. Since the detection, several countries have taken decisions to safeguard their population. Some countries even instituted outright ban on the importation of a brand of noodles in an erratic manner without proper investigation.

Based on reports from some countries Indomie noodles still remains safe for consumption. According to Indonesian food manufacturer, Indofood, its indomie instant noodles, one of their very popular food is safe for consumption and have not removed the products from its shelves. Also, NAFDAC (National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control) in Nigeria said that Nigerian Indomie noodles are safe for consumption.

Indomie exist in many varieties, from classic soup flavors such as chicken, vegetable, chicken curry, etc. It is available in over 100 countries including USA, Canada, Africa, European, middle East Countries, and Australia. Indomie Instant noodles was first launched in 1972 with Indomie chicken flavour. It is a well-loved food by both children and adults because of its unique taste.
