Several tens of thousands of people have been moved from the Greek island of Rhodes to safety where wildfire has been burning since Saturday. The blaze according to Greece officials seem to be worsening, devastating the holiday islands.

As record temperatures have been recorded in different parts of the world, millions of people are exposed to intense heat during this summer. These tumbling temperatures are believed by experts to be caused by global warming effect of climate change.

On the Greece Island of Rhodes, wildfire has been ragging for several days, leading to the evacuation of many people from the danger zones.

The Island is a popular holiday location for British nationals, with reports that there are most-likely over 10,000 British tourists currently on the fire-scourged Rhodes. There are reports that hotels and facilities used by some of the tourists were either burnt down or evacuated.

Most flights to the island from UK were cancelled as the biggest evacuation in Greece history takes place. Though authorities say that the fire is under control, there are fears that it could be most devastating within the next few days.

Fire fighters had blamed the fires on arson, but is is most-likely that the heat waves in Europe facilitated the blaze.

The devastating fires are also destroying animal habitats and food sources, and have caused several deaths of animals, with several others being at risk of starvation. According to International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) they are now providing aid to ANIMA, a non-profit organization that offers first aid services for wildlife in Greece. The center treats several thousands of wounded, sick and stranded wild animals before sending them back into the wild. Intense Veterinary care is also provided by IFAW for wounded and burnt animals.

It is anticipated that due to climate change, cases of wildfires, droughts and even floods may worsen in several parts of the world.
