Australia has successfully rescued a sick Antarctic researcher. from a remote outpost. The emergency rescue operation was launched barely a few days ago to get to the researcher who developed an undisclosed medical condition.
To execute the operation, a medical retrieval team, two helicopters, and a massive icebreaker ship are in use.
The research station has limited health facilities and is a very unfriendly terrain.
All researchers sent to Antarctica are required to undergo detailed medical evaluation before deployment.
Antarctic region is a very complex location that could be very dangerous to access and any recue operation in this part of the planet is also very dangerous.
The ice breaker ship maneuvered through the ice to get close to nearly 200 kilometres within reach of the remote research outpost. Thereafter, helicopters flew for about an hour to rescue the patient.
The rescued researcher is now in the ice breaker ship back to Tasmania for proper medical care.
